Make room for someone like Maya this Christmas | The Leprosy Mission

Will you make sure our leprosy services can continue for children like Maya?

As Leprosy Mission hospitals in India faced their darkest hour earlier this year, your prayers and support helped sustain staff there and save many lives. When hospitals were overwhelmed with Covid patients and we mourned with our Indian brothers and sisters, you stood with them.

Our team in India now face another huge challenge as supplies for leprosy treatment have reached a critical level. The pressure on hospitals throughout 2021 means resources are low, staff are exhausted, and funds have been used up. The pandemic has pushed an estimated 120 million people into poverty. If we don’t do something now, people affected by leprosy will be left further behind than ever. People like 16-year-old Maya, who came to The Leprosy Mission urgently needing an operation on her hand. She'd been turned away by other doctors before finally being referred to our team.

Like every person, Maya deserves the chance to follow her dreams and reach her God-given potential. And with your support, there is hope. This Christmas, will you help Maya and others like her get the treatment they need?

  • £48 would provide the cure for leprosy for two people
  • A gift from you of £120 would pay for life-changing reconstructive surgery
  • Your gift of £241 would pay for ulcer care for a patient who is struggling to walk and at risk of amputation if their ulcers don’t heal
  • A generous gift of £455 would provide eye surgery for ten people, saving their sight
  • £2,004 would pay for a physiotherapist for four months to prepare patients for surgery and restore movement to damaged hands and feet

This Christmas, as we celebrate the birth of our King, let’s bring His peace, hope and love to people with leprosy in India.
